The board approved a furniture bid for Copper Hills High School with an amendment: the motion requires verification that the source of funding (TSSA or other compliant sources) is appropriate before final allocation. Mr. Larson told the board that TSSA ordinarily excludes capital purchases (items with long useful lives or items costing over the district’s capital thresholds), so the approval was amended to verify funding sources before funds are used. The amended motion passed unanimously.
Separately, the board approved a bid for Chromebooks for Harriman High School. Members discussed the legislature’s recent changes that may affect device deployment and asked administration to inventory existing devices and report back on redistribution options before future purchases.
The board accepted a cooperative bid for white copy paper (Central Warehouses) for multiple Wasatch‑front districts; the total noted in discussion was about $118,608. Members commented on the volume of delivery and on blended classroom use of both digital devices and paper resources.
Facility bids also cleared the board. The board approved a district‑wide trip‑hazard removal contract (to address raised slabs from tree roots and freeze‑thaw cycles) and approved stadium lighting and audio‑visual upgrades at Bingham and Riverton high schools as part of a multi‑year capital plan. Board and finance committee members said a portion of capital funds was earmarked over a four‑year plan to address stadium lighting; auditors and facilities staff will continue prioritizing needs such as auditorium audio upgrades.
Finally, in response to an incident in which an alarm sounded at a district facility without PA/intercom coverage, the finance committee recommended and the board approved an intercom upgrade bid for three district locations, citing safety reasons and the need for full building coverage. Engineers presented designs built to reach conference rooms, exterior warehouses and other spaces.
Board members authorized the bids by voice votes or roll calls; most motions passed unanimously. Staff said they will confirm funding sources where noted and proceed with contracts and scheduling.
