North Canton council approves routine business; long‑time parks and water superintendent to retire

The transcript records the new sergeant’s name with uncertain pronunciation; staff said the name sounded like "Adam Kam," and the meeting record noted uncertainty about the exact spelling.
On water operations, officials said Tad Martinez will take over water distribution and water treatment responsibilities; further operational manager postings will be announced as internal shifts are confirmed.
Pat Patterson, a resident who provided an address at the podium, encouraged residents to join a free community walk on the 29th at 8 a.m. from Portico as part of community engagement ahead of the city’s 250th celebrations.
Near the end of the meeting the presiding official moved to enter executive session to discuss the purchase or sale of property under ORC 121.22(G)(2). The council voted 7–0 to go into closed session; the record lists directors of administration and finance, the city engineer, the clerk of council and representatives from North Canton City Schools among those who would join the session. The council later returned from executive session and recorded that no action had been taken during the closed meeting.
