The Gilpin County Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution 26033, authorizing an amendment to the county’s contract with CE Power, Inc. for a change order related to installation work on the justice center generator.
Staff explained that while the contractor encountered unexpected, dense poured concrete ductwork around existing electrical conduits during excavation, the work is necessary to tie into the conduits and complete generator installation. Staff said they will offset the change‑order cost with savings from other projects. The board was told the increase amount is $30,661 and that previously authorized contingency funds totaled $29,024.
Commissioners asked how the funding would be covered; staff responded that savings already realized and projected savings in other projects would be applied. After questions, a commissioner moved to approve Resolution 26033 to authorize the contract amendment and change order; the motion was seconded and adopted by unanimous vote.
The resolution allows the contractor to continue the work and preserves the project schedule; staff said that without the amendment the project schedule could be delayed.
