Macon County approves PARTIF grant application; would require $650,000 county match if awarded

Parks and Recreation Director Seth Adams told the board the county plans to apply for a 2026 PARTIF (Parks and Recreation Trust Fund) grant and requested the board's blessing to submit the application that pairs $500,000 in grant funds with a $650,000 local match.
"This is due in May," Adams said, outlining a $1,150,000 project package that would include an amphitheater ($350,000), a multi-use covered court ($450,000) and a restroom/locker facility ($300,000), plus a 5% contingency. Adams said the county has three years to spend awarded funds if successful.
Board members asked clarifying questions about timing and budget implications. Staff emphasized that approving the application does not appropriate matching funds now; if the county is awarded the grant, a future appropriation of the $650,000 match would be required during the budget process. The board voted to allow submission of the PARTIF application by voice vote.
