Council approves $300,000 CDBG boost for Crown Heights Resource Center and HUD plan amendments

Leilani Hines, Housing and Neighborhood Services Director, said the action also allocates an additional $300,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to complete improvements at the Crown Heights Resource Center, bringing the CDBG contribution for that project to $1.1 million. Staff described that total construction costs are approximately $5,000,365 and said a 30-day public notice had been published on April 19.
Public commenters urged attention to seniors, mobile-home park residents, and improved customer service at community resource centers; Deputy Mayor Joyce moved adoption and highlighted prevention funding included in the amended plans. Council approved the substantial amendment and authorized staff to submit documents to HUD. Council also directed the city manager or designee to execute necessary documents for the amendment submission to HUD.
