The Northeast Independent School District Board of Trustees returned from closed session and voted to uphold an administrative level-three grievance decision, imposing five follow-up requirements for administration.
The motion listed five stipulations: (1) administration will provide the board and the family a summary of pending open-records requests and what records remain available; (2) an immediate evaluation of compensatory services to determine what is needed; (3) a review of existing policies and procedures for the AMMP program specifically related to student and parent conduct; (4) training for the school and AMMP program on proper reporting procedures including documentation and retention policies; and (5) a review and enforcement of existing stay-away and safety plans.
The motion was seconded and put to roll call. Two trustees, Mr. Wilson and Ms. Garcia, abstained, stating they had not received sufficient information prior to the meeting to prepare. Five trustees voted to uphold the administration decision; the motion passed as recorded in the meeting (recorded as 5'to'0). The board asked administration to provide the requested documentation and evaluations as follow-up.
The board cited Government Code provisions authorizing closed-session consideration; the motion and the stipulated follow-ups are administrative direction rather than an appeal reversal.
