The Northeast Independent School District Board of Trustees on May 2 canvassed the district's trustee election results and approved a resolution certifying the totals.
A district staff member told the board that Texas Election Code requires the governing body to canvass results and read precinct totals into the record. The board recorded results for Single Member District 3 as Michael Woolsen 472 votes and Diane Schibavillierial 334 votes (total 806), and Single Member District 7 as Caprice Garcia 745 votes and Sherry Ettinger 378 votes (total 1,123). Appendix A, included in the packet, was made part of the official election record to show totals by precinct as required by Election Code section 67.004.
The board debated a clerical date correction (the clerk's script initially referenced May 4), the error was corrected to May 2, and a motion to approve the canvass resolution was called and approved by roll call, recorded as passing 6 to 0.
The staff member noted that the transcript contains an inconsistent line while reading over/under votes; the record as read indicated 48 overvotes in one race and seven undervotes in the other. The board included the full precinct-level Appendix A in the official election file per Election Code guidance.
No substantive challenges to the tabulation were recorded in the public meeting. The board proceeded to qualify newly elected trustees and continue its agenda.
