He described a one‑time cost estimate of $2.6–2.65 million for fit‑out, IT infrastructure, furniture, contingency and signage, with ongoing rent expected to align with current leased space once built out.
The motion directed staff to negotiate lease terms within budget guidelines and to include one‑time build‑out funds in FY27. The motion was seconded and the board approved it by voice vote; meeting notes record the outcome as "four to one." One commissioner voiced cost concerns and urged staff to consider alternate, possibly more visible or cost‑effective sites, but the majority concluded the site could be lost if not acted on.
Staff said the new facility would not include holding cells and would be sized for report writing, complaints intake and training support. Commissioners asked staff to provide detailed lease and operating cost estimates during implementation and to keep the board apprised of negotiations.
