The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees unanimously adopted a revision to board policy DC(Local) that codifies a temporary practice granting the superintendent final hiring authority for contractual personnel below the director and campus-principal levels.
Staff said the measure was first used in July 2025 to speed hiring during a competitive period and that the proposed policy formally records that practice. Under the revision, positions at principal and director level and above will still be brought to the board for approval; other contractual hires made under this delegated authority will be reported to the board at the next regular meeting as a transparency measure.
District leadership said the change aligns with strategic goals to reduce time-to-fill for positions (from an average of 60 to 30 days by 2030) and that the language mirrors neighboring districts’ wording. Trustees adopted the policy revision 7–0.
