Alliance for Children briefs Keller council on multidisciplinary response and prevention

Alliance for Children representatives on April 7 told Keller City Council how the nonprofit supports multidisciplinary investigations, clinical healing and prevention education for children who have been victims of crime in Tarrant County.

The presenter said the nonprofit partners closely with Keller Police and operates regional centers (Arlington, Fort Worth, northeast center) that provide forensic interviews, trauma-informed forensic and clinical care and family-advocate support. “When Alliance for Children started in Tarrant County, it started as a good idea. It’s now grounded in law,” the presenter said, noting state expectations that multidisciplinary responses be available to every child in Texas.

Staff pointed council members to a packet with local data: Alliance reported serving roughly 2,200 children through its centers during the last completed fiscal year and noted that Tarrant County had over 4,500 confirmed child-victim cases across all categories in that period. The presenter described forensic interview rooms, digital recording for legally defensible interviews, and the organization’s prevention curricula for Pre-K through high school and caregiver trainings that support Keller ISD’s required trainings.

Council members asked clarifying questions about Keller-specific intakes and partnerships; staff said Alliance receives every intake belonging to the Department of Family and Protective Services for Keller-area children and triages cases to the multidisciplinary team when circumstances indicate a need for combined investigative, protective and clinical response.
