Woodbury on Feb. 25 swore in nine new full‑time firefighters and EMS personnel in a brief ceremony at the start of the city council meeting.
Assistant public safety staff introduced the group and described the event as the single largest full‑time hiring in the department's history. Staff read the meaning of the Maltese cross and the star of life and then led each new firefighter through the oath of office. Families and friends participated in badge pinnings and the council took photographs and offered congratulations.
Names announced by staff included Matthew Brookshaw, Ryan Conlin, William Corrigan, Ryan Dahl, Peter Engelsrud, Kyle Grabowski, Elizabeth Hansen, Joseph Henneberg and Steven Niehaus. The council thanked the new hires and the public safety team; the mayor and council members joined for a photo and brief reception.
