Anna Gonzales was elected chair of the Interagency Equity Advisory Committee at the panel's March 4, 2026, meeting after members conducted roll‑call votes.
Gonzales, executive director of the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice and a returning member of the committee, told colleagues she was “committed to creating a healthier and more equitable environment for future generations” during her candidate statement. Andres Ramirez, who ran for both chair and vice chair and represents People for Mobility Justice, was elected vice chair.
Staff supervised the process and Justin Hall, the committee clerk, called the roll during both elections. Members provided brief candidate statements before voting; several candidates withdrew from consideration prior to the roll call. The committee also moved to adopt the December 2025 executive and business meeting minutes by roll call following procedural motion and a second.
The new leadership will guide the committee through its 2026 agenda of advisory opportunities, including updates on the California Transportation Commission’s SB 1 programs, the Active Transportation Program, and state equity tools. In closing remarks, Chair Gonzales emphasized the committee’s mandate to advance equity across transportation programs and pledged to center lived experience and accountability in the committee’s work.
The committee adjourned after staff summarized next steps and confirmed upcoming subcommittee meetings and public workshops.
