Cooke County lowers speed limits on County Roads 115 and 132 to 45 mph

After opening and closing brief public hearings with no speakers, the court approved a motion to reduce the speed limit on the entire length of County Road 115 to 45 miles per hour; that motion passed 5-0. The court then approved a separate motion to reduce the posted speed limit on County Road 132 (Bones Chapel Road) to 45 miles per hour; that vote also passed 5-0.
The moves followed staff recommendations introduced during the noticed hearings; no members of the public spoke at either hearing. Commissioners treated the items as traffic-safety measures and approved them by unanimous vote.
Next steps: county traffic/engineering staff will update signage and notify affected precinct officials after the orders are entered.
