Board opens bids for Hillandale Lift Station repairs; four bids received

Randy, a city staff member, described the Hillandale 1 Lift Station as the main station in Hillandale, saying, "It was put in the mid eighties. The concrete started to deteriorate. We're gonna have it all sprayed and all the piping and all that stuff replaced in it. Plus, we're putting a new generator in."
The board recorded four bids read aloud by the chair and staff: Dave O'Meara Contractors (base bid $342,615; Alternate A — Spectra Shield lining system +$8,970; Alternate B — QuadEx structure guard lining +$8,040); Brackney Incorporated of Brookville (base bid $755,000; Alternate A deduction $20,000; Alternate B deduction $20,000); C and H M Excavating of Milan (base bid $356,373; Alternate A deduction $2,242; Alternate B deduction $3,737); and PAF Construction of Columbus, Indiana (base bid $665,000; no alternates attached on the bid form). The chair said the board would take the bids under advisement pending legal counsel and engineers' reviews.
No award or contract decision was made at the meeting. The board did not record a formal vote to accept or reject any bid; staff will return with recommendation and required legal/engineering findings before the board takes procurement action.
