Council highlights summer programs, pool opening, department reports and outreach plans

The council noted the municipal pool opened recently and that a free lunch program for children will run Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Strauser Shroyer Memorial Pool for the summer. "Today is the first day of the free lunch program, and that's gonna continue throughout the summer, Monday through Friday, rain or shine, 11:30 to 1:30 PM at the Strauser Shroyer Memorial Pool," a council member said.
The police chief provided monthly activity statistics including counts for petitions, criminal and non-traffic complaints, parking and traffic citations, and described an initiative to host Coffee with the Cops in partnership with a local bank and PennDOT representatives to encourage community engagement. Fire and emergency service call counts and permit revenue figures for May were read into the record by the chair and finance director.
Council members publicly thanked the street department for maintenance work and festival support and encouraged residents to recognize crews for their work. The clerk opened the citizen-comment period at the meeting’s close.
