Staff told the board New Idea was selected through the state contract for price, prior quality and the company’s ability to provide professional development for educators. Matt Rudnick of New Idea presented renderings and specifications for elementary and middle classrooms, EC rooms, media centers, cafeterias and CTE/social‑emotional spaces; he emphasized mobile, caster‑mounted furniture, marker‑top collaborative tables, choice seating and ADA‑accessible configurations in cafeterias.
The district reported the order came in under budget. Staff said roughly $247,000 of the purchase had to be procured via a cooperative contract rather than the state contract; the bulk of the $4.338 million is on state contract. The purchase covers about 131 classrooms, numerous specialty rooms and built‑in storage elements. New Idea also committed to providing teacher professional development to support reconfiguring classrooms around active and collaborative learning models.
Board members asked for and received clarifications about planned seat counts. Staff confirmed the district planned desks for 30 students in grades 4–8, 22 seats in primary grades, and about 12–14 in each EC classroom; summer EC staff participation and principal discretion for room setups were noted. Miss Burns made the motion to approve; an attending board member seconded. The Chair called the vote and recorded it as unanimous; the transcript records unanimous approval but does not list an individual roll call tally.
The board's approval authorizes staff to proceed with the state‑contract purchase and associated cooperative items; staff said delivery is expected next spring and that any minor shortfalls discovered during final inspections will be addressed through follow‑up purchases.
