Marathon County committee outlines public engagement plan for Hub City Wind Farm

Supervisor John Robinson reported at the Marathon County Board meeting on May 26 that the local committee for the Hub City Wind Farm held its initial meeting and has outlined a public engagement plan for residents.
Robinson said the county has set up a webpage at marathoncounty.gov/energy with limited information and will publish an online survey from June 1 through June 19 to gather public input on opportunities and concerns. He said the committee’s schedule includes a meeting June 4, a facilitated session on June 17 (to be held at North Central Health Care for capacity), a June 25 meeting, and a final meeting July 9; a report will be forwarded to the executive committee on July 5.
"We hope to get to as many people as possible, allow them to have input into the process," Robinson said, and noted the county will distribute posters to town clerks, libraries and its media list and post on social media.
The presentation did not include details of project siting, timelines for permitting, or funding sources; Robinson described this phase as community engagement and information-gathering. The board did not take a vote on any ordinance, permit or funding related to the wind project during the meeting.
Next steps announced by Robinson include online outreach beginning June 1, the facilitated meeting on June 17, and the committee’s July report to the executive committee.
