Cusseta–Chattahoochee commission reappoints two to regional transit board, approves forestry agreement and routine items

The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on routine business during June meetings, reappointing two members to the Lower Chattahoochee Regional Transportation Authority, approving a fire-tower agreement with the Georgia Forestry Commission and authorizing several other administrative items.
Resolutions reappointing Timothy Biddle and Gerald Douglas to the LRCTA were entered and approved. The LRCTA appointments were processed as resolutions (terms noted in the resolutions) and were approved by unanimous vote at the June 4 meeting.
The board also approved the Georgia Forestry Commission agreement that provides fire-tower operator services for the county. The contract period runs July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025; the county's payment per contract period is capped at $4,738.58 and the commission authorized the chairman to execute the agreement.
Other business handled by the board included acceptance of an employee-insurance renewal, authorization of application/acceptance paperwork for a highway-520 roundabout grant (a 40/60 match that could require up to $52,000 in county funds for utility relocation if applicable), and recognition that LMIG funds totaling about $355,000 (initial $155,000 check plus supplemental) are in process. Commissioners indicated they will take up awarding a new solid-waste contract and certain tax-exemption refund requests at a subsequent meeting.
All routine votes reported in the minutes were unanimous among commissioners present. The actions were recorded in the minutes for June 4 and June 24, 2024.
