Coffee County animal control approves side-view dog logo and readies new shelter move

The Coffee County Health, Welfare and Recreation Committee voted May 26 to proceed with a redesigned animal-control logo and discussed progress on the county’s animal shelter move.

Committee members gathered around printed designs presented by Craig of animal control and settled on a side-view dog emblem in a reddish-orangish tint (committee members referenced a “Tennessee orange” palette). After questions about visibility on white trucks and embroidery limitations, a motion to proceed with the side-view design and refine colors before final production was made, seconded, and approved by voice vote.

“The side view would probably be better,” Craig said, noting embroidery concerns with fine white details. Committee members also supported including the triple stars motif used in other county insignia to improve visual recognition.

Craig told the committee the shelter relocation is underway: “We’re moving in right now… we’re over, we’re probably 75% there,” and he estimated about 12 dogs remain to be transferred. He said the team still needs two phones and several cabinets to complete setup and that signage and embroidered emblems will be ordered after color and final design are confirmed.

The committee discussed logistics for a ribbon cutting and agreed to finalize design and production details at the next meeting.
