Byram Council approves consent agenda including affordable housing commitment and forestry plan

At its Jan. 21 meeting the Byram Township Council approved a consent agenda that bundled multiple routine resolutions by single motion and roll-call vote.
The consent agenda included: • Resolution No. 036-2025 — support for a forest stand improvement program on Cranberry Overlook open-space parcels; • Resolution No. 037-2025 — committing Byram Township to comply with affordable housing obligations (Township Attorney Tom Collins said a judgment will be filed with the superior court within 48 hours); • Resolutions No. 038–041-2025 — refunds and professional services agreements (including a community forestry management plan contract); • Resolutions No. 042–043-2025 — change orders (net decreases) for resurfacing projects; • Resolution No. 044-2025 — authorization to purchase one Alcotest machine for the police department, not to exceed $22,822.50.
Deputy Mayor Franco moved and Councilman Proctor seconded approval of the consent agenda; the motion was carried by roll call. The council also approved the January 7, 2025 minutes and the bill list for Jan. 21 by separate motions.
Tom Collins provided explanation for Resolution 037-2025 and said a court filing is expected "within 48 hours." No further debate was recorded on the consent items.
