Passaic County proclaims AAPI Heritage Month, honors local leaders and student performers

Dr. Arti Kakar, who was honored for leadership in behavioral health and county health services, thanked the board and county staff, saying she appreciated the recognition and the support of colleagues. Dimple Thakkar, recognized for volunteer public-health and outreach work through BAPS Charities, invoked unity and thanked the commissioners and community members who support her work. Dr. Jennifer Hinlu Chuang, MD, accepted a proclamation recognizing her work in adolescent medicine and advocacy for reproductive and LGBTQIA health equity. Entrepreneurs Sheetal Vyas and Huron Trivedi received recognitions for business and community contributions.
Two students from Passaic County Technical Institute performed as part of the program. Tahira Janath delivered a Bengali spoken-word recitation and Jillian Troiano performed a Chinese song on flute; both were introduced by Commissioner Bartlett and were presented with certificates.
The commissioners presented certificates of recognition from the county clerk and surrogate to the honorees and invited attendees to a reception following the program. The meeting then continued with the evening's business.
