School committee approves voice‑program trip to national a cappella convention

Anna Morrell, the trip lead, described the convention as a festival choir and performance opportunity for high‑school singers and said the program combines performance, clinicians and some park days. "When we did this in March '23, we charged the students $10.50 altogether for essentially the same trip," Morrell said, adding that travel costs have risen since then and that organizers estimate the cost per student will be about $2,000 before booster support and fundraising.
Tom Bankert and other staff noted past fundraising and booster support reduce individual student costs and that financial aid is available so students will not be excluded for inability to pay. The committee moved, seconded and approved the field trip by voice vote; presenters thanked the committee for approval and said they will proceed with planning and booster outreach.
The committee did not provide a detailed line‑item budget during the meeting; presenters said they will coordinate with the music boosters and provide further planning details to the district.
