Templeton Recreation Foundation seeks volunteers, reports fundraising and partnership plans

A member of the Templeton Recreation Foundation told the committee on Oct. 22 that the foundation has operated at reduced capacity after recent departures but is working to reconstitute a larger volunteer board and resume fundraising activities.
The presenter said TRF has provided scholarship support this year (about $8,000) and that recent fundraisers and donations enabled a roughly $30,000 contribution to the district's general fund in 2025. The group is planning to continue successful events such as the Beer Run and to prioritize volunteer recruitment; the presenter said recruiting to a target of about 10 members would make TRF's work more sustainable.
TRF discussed potential direct support for the parks and rec department, including purchasing a turf rejuvenation system for the rec department, and asked the committee to help identify community-minded volunteers. Committee members noted historical coordination and asked staff and TRF representatives to keep communication open so the district can reflect expected donations in future budgets.
The presenter said TRF is focusing on cost-effective fundraising and on directing funds to the rec department and programs that support access for families and children. The group recently sponsored concerts and scholarships and plans to continue collaboration with district staff on events and program support.
Committee members thanked TRF for past contributions and encouraged staff to coordinate on recruitment and future event planning. No formal commitments or agreements were adopted at the meeting.
