Fargo shows off winners of 'name the garbage truck' contest

Kyle Blanchard, an equipment operator with the department, told the commission that the contest has been especially popular with children who often ask drivers to honk or watch trucks empty bins.
A communications staff member said the public vote produced three top names that will appear as stickers on trucks. Organizers highlighted entries such as "Trash Source Rex" and a play on "Vin Diesel"; the top public pick includes a reference to "Chuck Norris," a choice organizers said also serves as a way to honor the late entertainer.
City staff said the effort boosted the department’s social media presence and gives young residents a visible way to participate in civic life. The commission received the presentation with no public opposition and moved on to other agenda items.
