Council considers amendments to interlocal and joint‑use agreements for Cedar Fork athletic amenities

She said changes reflect a swap of the high‑school and middle‑school sites, conversion of a softball field at Cedar Fork Elementary into a multipurpose field, and the need to update the interlocal agreement and joint‑use agreement to clarify schedule and maintenance. Stegall said the 2022 agreements included an interlocal agreement among Morrisville, Wake County Public School System (WCPSS), and Wake Technical Community College that established purchase/lease terms, a planned shared drive/trailhead on Paramount Parkway and joint use of athletic space at Cedar Fork Elementary. She said the shared drive/trailhead reference is being removed because topography made it infeasible, though staff will continue to investigate cross‑property connections. (Michelle Stegall)

Under the revised plan, Cedar Fork would still include six tennis courts (three of which could be striped for pickleball), two multipurpose fields, a restroom/storage building, parking and stormwater facilities. Stegall outlined a proposed use schedule that provides town access to tennis courts and multipurpose fields at specific weekday and weekend windows and clarifies that the town would generally maintain improvements when permitted under the agreement.
