The manager said a federal request for a northwest Cocoa fire station has cleared a subcommittee and was slated for funding at about $2,000,000. He also said a separate federal or congressional request produced $1,000,000 for wastewater infrastructure in the same general area. The manager reported that representatives had advised him the state budget going to the governor included $2,000,000 for the Cocoa Multimodal Station access road and approximately $4,700,000 for stormwater (baffle‑box) projects in Cocoa, which together were discussed as part of ongoing capital improvement priorities.
City staff emphasized that some state budget items remain subject to gubernatorial approval and that the city’s role included quickly assembling requests and application materials. "Keep your fingers crossed for the 2 state projects because… those are subject to veil by the governor," the manager said (transcript paraphrase). Council praised staff’s effort assembling requests on short notice.
Staff said project details, scopes and final award amounts remain subject to agency approvals and appropriation processes.
