Student entrepreneur presents "Vital Connect," a wearable to help seniors

Summer Adler, a senior and the Mulberry High School representative on the superintendent's executive student cabinet, addressed the Freehold Regional High School District Board on March 13 to describe her capstone entrepreneurship project, "Vital Connect."
"Vital Connect is a wearable medical watch designed to keep seniors safe while allowing them to remain independent," Adler said. She explained the device monitors key health vitals, provides medication reminders, detects falls and can instantly alert family members or emergency services via a connected mobile app.
Adler told the board her experience as a volunteer EMT inspired the project after she and her crew responded to calls where earlier intervention or better monitoring might have prevented escalation. She credited her senior business-law and entrepreneurship class with Mrs. Bendix for offering the real-world project experience to research, plan financing and develop a market strategy.
Superintendent Dr. Hazel praised Adler's presentation and the district's executive-student-cabinet program. The board thanked Adler and welcomed student perspectives as the district balances curriculum, career-readiness programs and community partnerships.
