Butner council recognizes outgoing member Michelle Brandt for years of service

The Butner Town Council recognized outgoing council member Michelle Brandt for more than a decade of service.
Speaker 3 read a formal recognition noting Brandt's appointment in 2011, election in 2011 and 2013, service as mayor pro tem from 2023 to 2025, and leadership on the budget and finance committee and parks and recreation advisory committee. The reading credited Brandt with helping create the town's first website, supporting public-safety transitions, construction projects and community events.
Michelle Brandt spoke to the council about his service, thanked town staff (including Anita, Barb and Reed) and encouraged citizens to attend meetings and make their voices heard. He described personal reasons for stepping down and said he will remain involved in the community.
Following the remarks the council adjourned to a brief signing ceremony and reception and planned to reconvene for photographs.
