The Joint Budget Oversight Committee of the New Jersey State Legislature convened March 23, 2026, adopted its operating rules for the 2026–27 legislative session and completed internal elections and appointments, the committee said.
The committee adopted proposed operating rules and procedures, described in the meeting packet as identical to those used in the prior session. Speaker 1 introduced the motion to adopt the rules; Speaker 2 conducted a roll call and recorded affirmative votes, after which the committee adopted the rules.
Speaker 3 moved to nominate Paul Sarlo and Eliana Pinter Marin to serve as co-chairs; the motion was seconded and approved on a roll-call vote. The committee then moved to nominate Mr. Hart as committee secretary; that nomination also passed. The committee approved the minutes from its Sept. 24, 2024 meeting following a motion noted in the record as moved by Ruiz and seconded by Swain.
The reorganizational actions were procedural and routine: the committee’s stated next steps were to proceed with the remainder of the agenda, which included two grant reallocation approvals.
