Morris County commissioners approve $1.04 million for School of Technology roof

The Morris County Board of County Commissioners on April 22 adopted a capital improvement ordinance appropriating $1,040,000 for a roof replacement at Morris County School of Technology Building No. 6.

The chair opened the ordinance's public hearing and invited comment; no members of the public spoke and the hearing was closed. The clerk moved to adopt the ordinance on second and final reading. A roll-call vote recorded "Yes" from Commissioner Myers, Commissioner Angelo, Commissioner Sellen, Commissioner Cabana and Director Shaw, and the ordinance was adopted.

The appropriation was presented as part of the board's second-reading business for the evening. The board also approved routine business with voice or roll-call votes, including approval of the April 8, 2026 work-session and regular meeting minutes, acceptance of eight items of communication, adoption of the resolutions on the agenda (including one added after the work session), and a motion to pay county bills.

During the meeting the chair asked the clerk to confirm whether any written public comments had been submitted; the clerk reported there were none. The meeting opened for general public comment and no members of the public spoke.

The board began the meeting with a moment of silence honoring Brigadier General David Oaks III, a former member of the Morris County Open Space Committee, and a short invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. A commissioner also noted a ceremony earlier that day recognizing Victim Rights Week and thanked local law-enforcement participants.

The meeting adjourned after routine business. No formal amendments to the ordinance or dissenting votes were recorded in the transcript.
