Engineer seeks continuance on Lambert Street wetland work after neighbor concerns

Acushnet — The Conservation Commission heard plans Oct. 9 for a single‑family dwelling and driveway at the end of Lambert Street, and agreed to continue the hearing after neighbors raised questions about runoff and wetland replication.
Engineer Dave Deviggan, representing applicant Justin Lawrence, walked commissioners through property history, a proposed 20‑foot easement for utilities to bring sewer and water to the lot, and a plan to alter roughly 2,290 square feet of wetland that would be replicated nearby at a 1:1 ratio. Deviggan said utilities would be carried through a family easement and that the homes would be sited on the upland portion of the lot.
Neighbors asked whether the proposed drainage would send additional stormwater across an adjacent front lawn and asked whether existing roadside ditches and catch basins were adequate. The applicant said replication and grading would be performed before other site work and that erosion control and planting plans are included in the NOI filing.
Given topography and the technical questions about grade, the commission granted a continuance to Oct. 23 so the applicant can coordinate final grading, provide any additional test‑pit data and allow the commission’s peer reviewer and planning staff to weigh in.
No permit was issued at the meeting; the project will return with additional information on soil test pits, final replication details and erosion‑control measures.
