Assembly Bill A3523, which revises the membership of the New Jersey Educational Facilities Authority and includes committee amendments that alter the number and nomination process for gubernatorial appointees, was amended and released by the Assembly Higher Education Committee.
Jennifer Keys Maloney, representing the New Jersey Association of State Colleges and Universities, testified briefly in support and linked the bill to recent funding the legislature helped make possible for deferred maintenance in higher education. "We are supported with legislation because it also facilitates, actually funding that you helped make possible this current fiscal year, the $250,000,000 give or take that allows us to do a ton of deferred maintenance across the entire higher ed sector," she said.
After brief remarks and a motion to amend and release, the committee voted by roll call; members recorded unanimous yes votes and the clerk announced that the bill was released. The transcript records no floor amendments to the bill during the hearing.
The bill will now proceed from committee for further legislative consideration.
