The Assembly Higher Education Committee released Assembly Bill A1315, which would modify the collective statewide transfer agreement and reverse-transfer agreement and establish the position of a New Jersey transfer ombudsperson within the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education. "Assembly bill number 1315 modifies the collective statewide transfer agreement and reverse transfer agreement and establishes the position of New Jersey transfer ombudsperson within the office of the secretary of higher education," the committee clerk read for the record.
Committee members listed several higher-education groups as supporting the bill, including the New Jersey Council of Community Colleges, NJIT, NJBIA, the New Jersey Association of State Colleges and Universities and the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce; those organizations were recorded as "in favor" and did not request to testify. Chair (by role) invited any comments from committee members; there were none before a motion was offered to release the bill.
A motion to release the bill was made and seconded; the committee proceeded to a roll-call vote. Assemblywoman Flynn, Assemblyman Sharfenberger, Assemblyman Carney, Assemblyman Miller, Assemblywoman Carter and Chair (role) each recorded a "yes" vote and the clerk announced that "the bill is released." The committee did not record any amendments or dissent in the transcript.
The committee's action advances A1315 out of committee for further consideration by the full Assembly or subsequent committee action.
