The board appointed Jeffrey Fabian as the town’s local building inspector. Fabian said he is a lifelong Acushnet resident; selectmen clarified the position will perform inspections on behalf of the building department rather than serving as a full‑time building commissioner. The motion to appoint passed on a voice vote.
Earlier the board approved a one‑time, annual fee waiver for two community organizations under the revised building‑use fee policy after the town’s building official and the groups reached an agreement. The chair said he had reviewed the letter from one of the applicants and, because town staff supported it, the board approved the waiver by unanimous voice vote.
The board also appointed staff: Matthew Tripp as maintenance foreman (effective immediately), Brady Baldwin as custodian and Renee Langlois as senior clerk in the assessors' office. Each appointment passed by voice vote and the chair welcomed the new employees.
The board handled other routine items on the warrant and thanked municipal staff and volunteers for recent community events.
