County moves four dilapidated properties to complaint stage under abandoned-property ordinance

Joe Dombrowski, Monongalia County litter control officer, asked the commission to advance four long-vacant, dilapidated properties to the complaint stage under county ordinance 2004-01, describing them as having broken windows, open doors and caving roofs and saying they had been neglected for years.
Dombrowski said all four properties are owned by the same owner and that previous attempts to work with the owner were unsuccessful. The parcels were identified by district and parcel numbers and advanced to the complaint stage by motion and approved by voice vote.
"These 4 properties in particular are all owned by 1 owner ... I've attempted to work with this property owner, and he is just not open to any kind of work on these properties," Dombrowski said. The commission did not direct specific abatement steps on the record beyond moving the parcels to the complaint stage.
