Board leadership proposed the change citing the need for more detailed committee-level work before workshop and action meetings. After debate over committee membership equity, meeting days and start times, the board took a roll-call vote to return to individual committees; the motion carried 5–4.
The board then discussed specific calendar dates for workshops and voting meetings. Members set a Jan. 22 workshop (7 p.m.) and an action meeting on Jan. 27, and added a Feb. 19 workshop with a Feb. 24 voting meeting to follow. Some members urged sticking to Tuesday nights to accommodate long-standing practice; others said adding both Tuesdays and Thursdays will better accommodate committee work.
Several public commenters and board members requested that committee membership requests be shared with the public and that administrators attend committee and workshop meetings to ensure advisors are present to answer substantive questions. The president said committee requests should be emailed to him and that he will assign chairs and membership and coordinate liaisons with administration.
Board members agreed to circulate committee preferences immediately and to hold committee meetings the following week to prepare agendas, particularly for budget-related work.
