Select Board approves National Grid’s plan to add a pole on Black Brook Road

At a public hearing on March 2, National Grid design engineer John Jenkins described a plan to insert a new utility pole on Black Brook Road between existing poles 2196 and 2197 to reduce an overlong span and lower line tension.
Jenkins said the new pole would sit roughly 130 feet from pole 2197, replace some wire on one side and not create outages for the neighborhood during installation. Staff confirmed abutters were notified; two abutters present raised general questions about whether other poles might be evaluated, and the applicant offered to check additional locations if requested.
A board member moved to approve the pole insertion as shown in the plan and the board adopted the motion by unanimous roll call.
