MIDDLETOWN — The facilities committee reported progress on maintenance and presented several planned capital and site improvements that will come before the board.
Committee members said crews completed flooring work at Leonardo and repairs at Middletown High School South over the November break and that gym refinishing is scheduled over the winter break. The committee also reviewed ongoing work on the Lincroft annex and HVAC maintenance needs, including replacement of boiler expansion tanks and hot water heaters; several of those maintenance items were included on the meeting agenda for board consideration.
"We did some flooring at Leonardo. We finished up some of the at... high school South. We're continuing to work on the Lincroft annex," a facilities committee member said. The same member flagged possible stadium improvements — speaker replacements at football stadiums and upgraded portable toilets for next season — and a spring proposal from South Jersey Turf to improve baseball and softball fields.
The committee reported it will apply for the local recreation improvement grant again and recommended a playground upgrades application; the grant application deadline was given as Jan. 31.
The board will consider the facilities items on the meeting agenda; no final capital approvals were announced during the discussion.
