Washington County Executive Josh Schulman showcases multimillion-dollar addition at county golf course

Washington County Executive Josh Schulman walked viewers through a multimillion-dollar addition under construction at the Washington County Golf Course, saying the project is being paid for by private donors and an endowment rather than by property taxes. "This multimillion dollar addition is not being funded with property tax dollars or taxpayer dollars at all," Schulman said.

The expansion, which Schulman described during an episode of the county's "WASHCO Weekly" video series, will add several large bays and indoor golf simulators, a sizable clubhouse extension intended for events such as birthdays and anniversaries, and a new patio and main entrance. Schulman said the facility aims to support rentals and community events once construction is complete.

Schulman framed the project as a collaboration between the county and local philanthropic supporters, saying benefactors helped create "over $3,000,000 endowment in partnership with the county that helps to fund projects like this." He credited county staff, calling out "Craig and his team, Jamie, our chief community development officer," for their work keeping the course off the property tax levy and supporting upgrades.

A ribbon cutting and grand opening are expected "by the end of this summer," Schulman said, and he encouraged residents interested in renting the space to contact the golf course later this year. He also noted the course recently passed its 25th anniversary and presented the expansion as the start of its next quarter-century.
