Summitville reports 54 runs so far this year; county smoke-alarm program installs two dozen detectors

"We have responded to 37 calls in our district, and we have responded to 16 mutual aid calls," Michael said, adding that the combined total was 53 (he later referenced 54 runs). Michael also summarized personnel and equipment status: the department has 22 active members and all trucks are in service.
Michael described the county's smoke-alarm program as a state-supported, free installation service for residents. "We're at 24, I believe," he said when asked how many detectors had been installed so far. He explained that installations are recorded and reported to the state so the county can request additional units and maintain accountability for where devices are placed.
Committee members and Michael discussed paperwork and deadlines: the chair asked volunteers and departments to submit smoke-detector paperwork in June so the budget/finance chair can confirm quotas. Michael said the fire marshal's office receives calls routed by the state and then relays contact information to local departments for installation scheduling.
The committee did not take formal action on the report; members thanked Summitville personnel and moved on to other agenda items. The next committee meeting was tentatively set for June 25 at 6 p.m.
