Department heads say parking garage repairs remain on track; county readies road closures for weekend races

At a Beaver County board work session on May 27, a department head (S5) said the downtown parking garage is entering its third week of repairs and that crews expect about four to six more weeks to finish remaining work, including ceiling repairs, painting and roof rebuilding.
The department head (S5) said the project has experienced weather-related delays but remains “in the time zone of about 4 to 6 weeks.” The official added the department met with the contractor and a tree arborist after spring concerns about trees that may need to be cut down and that, once the arborist provides a proposal, county staff will schedule a meeting with “Mr. Panella, the contractors, and the law department” to consider a formal agreement on tree work.
The updates were part of routine department head reports. Another department head (S3) described a multi-race event at Raiders Rabbit Park that organizers say has about 2,200 registrations across six races, including a 100-mile event. The official said Grady’s Run Road will be closed from 5:00 a.m. Saturday through 4:00 p.m. Sunday and that the sheriff’s office will staff closures.
The department head who discussed the races said they will be involved in the morning relay start and encouraged county participation. County staff said they will continue meetings with contractors to push the parking-garage timeline ahead of a busy June events schedule.
The work session moved on after the reports; no formal votes were taken on project contracts or tree removal at the session.
