Madison County Fiscal Court approves MOA, appointments, contracts and equipment purchases; sets grant application

Madison County Fiscal Court on May 26 approved a batch of routine resolutions, appointed board members, authorized purchases and accepted procurement awards.
The court approved Resolution 2026-038 to enter an MOA with the Commonwealth of Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, Division of Waste Management, naming a host-community liaison for community relations, emergency planning and oversight related to the Bluegrass chemical agent destruction pilot plant. The initial MOA will be effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028, and the Commonwealth may reimburse liaison services (the MOA text cites up to $100,000 subject to federal fiscal-year limits).
The court approved Resolution 2026-039 to purchase a 2026 Dodge Durango cruiser for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at a price listed in the resolution as $65,750.61; presenter Tony said the purchase followed required bidding and that the Durango was the lowest-price state-contract option. The court also approved Resolution 2026-040 reappointing Danny Turner to the Madison County Utilities District board and approved Resolution 2026-041 to reappoint Ralph Oliver III to the Madison County Board of Adjustments.
Under Resolution 2026-042 the court authorized filing a Kentucky House Bill 900 project grant application with the Department for Local Government for up to $100,000 on behalf of Redeeming Hope Therapeutic Foster Home.
For procurement, the court approved Resolution 2026-046 to award the breathing-air system contract for the new county fire station to ProAir Midwest for $72,900. Fire Chief Keith recommended the ProAir system because the department already uses similar Mako-brand equipment that has performed well for decades: "It's a Mako machine. We've had one that we have currently at Station 1 ... It's almost 30 year old, and it's still operable to this day," he said, noting consistency reduces training and maintenance complexity.
The court also approved a service agreement with Delta Gas (Resolution 2026-045) to provide gas service capacity for the new fire station and approved personnel recommendations, transfers and claims as presented.
During public comment, Mary McMahan asked whether the Keeneland Drive station would be closed. The judge and a magistrate said no final decision had been made and assured the public that Madison County would maintain a presence in the area and coverage would not be degraded. The court set its next meeting for June 9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. and adjourned.
