Cheatham County approves several budget amendments and funds ambulance purchase

The Board approved General Fund transfers to cover Circuit Court data processing needs and to move MOE funds for the South Cheatham Library; county officials said transfers also covered sheriff overtime and equipment and EMS training supplements. The Board also approved a $270,000 transfer from the General Purpose School Fund to purchase walk-in coolers for two high schools.
Other approvals included a $245,043.99 transfer from the Other Capital Projects - Vehicles Fund to purchase an ambulance and related equipment, and a Solid Waste/Sanitation fund draw of $19,158 to buy two 35-yard recycling roll-off containers. Commissioners also approved a $6,600 transfer of opioid settlement funds to Hustle Recovery, Inc. to buy 300 Narcan boxes.
Votes and procedure: Budget amendments were approved in separate roll-call votes that were unanimous in most cases; the County General Fund vote recorded 11 Yes, 0 No, 1 Abstain on one item (B.J. Hudspeth abstained on one General Fund item). The ambulance and other capital purchases passed by roll call 12-0.
Why it matters: The measures fund immediate county needs, from court hardware and library design costs to school food-service upgrades, and add near-term capital capacity (an ambulance and recycling containers) funded from existing capital balances and specific program revenues.
Next steps: Departments authorized to implement the purchases and report back through standard county channels; the ambulance purchase will proceed under the Other Capital Projects - Vehicles Fund authority.
