District construction: IS addition near dry-in; bus depot and elementary site work progressing

A district staff member gave a multi-project construction update, saying the intermediate school (IS) addition's roof is now dried in and drywall installation has begun across floors. The presenter said second-floor mechanical, electrical and plumbing is about 90% roughed in and the first floor roughly 65–70% roughed in.

"The roof now has been 100% dried in," the staff member reported, and noted masonry had started in the courtyard area adjacent to the addition. He said finishers had begun on the second-floor drywall and that the general contractor will provide a schedule update in early June to inform the district's plans for an August completion target.

The staff update also covered the bus depot maintenance facility, where the sediment basin is nearly complete and cut-and-fill for the access road has begun (about 10–15 feet remaining), and preparatory work on sewer-line installation. For the elementary site the district has fenced an old field, started topsoil stripping, expects trailers and stone to arrive imminently, and has mobilized a tree contractor to chip and reuse mulch as erosion-control materials. Demolition of three buildings has been completed and debris removed from the site.

Staff noted one construction-related change order for Merritt Electric (additional clocks for the Orchestra Room and a practice room) was on the agenda and that a pre-demolition coordination meeting with the contractor will be scheduled.

The general contractor's schedule update, expected in early June, will determine whether accommodations are needed to meet the district's August completion planning for the IS addition.
