Anoka County commissioners on May 12 unanimously approved a package of transportation- and parks-related items, including a resolution to allow the Minnesota Department of Transportation to accept federal funds for a county pavement project in Coon Rapids and several professional- and construction-contract actions.
The board adopted Resolution 2026-41, authorizing Anoka County to enter into Minnesota Department of Transportation Agency Agreement 1062985 so MnDOT may act as the countyagent in accepting federal aid for Project SP 002-614-051 (pavement preservation on CSAH 14/Main St NW from the TH 10 bridge to 400 feet east of CSAH 18/Coon Creek Blvd in the city of Coon Rapids). The board note in the resolution that the project is eligible for federal funds programmed in the federally approved State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for fiscal year 2028 and that the action is being taken to proceed with construction in advance of the programmed federal funding year.
Commissioner Jeff Reinert moved the Transportation/Parks Committee recommendations; Commissioner Julie Jeppson seconded. The motion carried on a roll-call vote with all commissioners voting in favor.
Also approved as part of the Transportation/Parks consent package were:
- Amendment 1 to professional services Contract SCON26-00001091/C0011952A with engineering firm TKDA for Project SAP 002-612-039, which covers intersection improvements on Radisson Road, 109th Avenue and Davenport Street in the city of Blaine.
- A Joint Powers Agreement (CCON26-000437/C0011857) with Ramsey County for Project 002-632-023, the county-wide overlay program covering the portion of 85th Avenue/County Road J from Lexington Avenue to Rendova Street NE.
- Contract CCON26-000437/C0011857 in the amount of $1,171,830.97 to Ebert Construction for the Lazy River Bridge Replacement and Mechanical Building Upgrades at Bunker Beach.
The board record indicates these items were presented by the Transportation/Parks Committee of the Whole and were approved on the consent motion, without separate debate. Chair Scott Schulte presided over the meeting; the county administrator and attorneywere listed as present in the meeting minutes.
Whatthis means: the MnDOT agency agreement lets the state act on behalf of the county to accept federal aid and lets the county begin construction earlier than the federal programming year; the other approvals advance design, intergovernmental coordination and construction work on county roads and a county park facility.
