The Uniontown City Council approved a lease amendment May 11 with VFW Post 1949 to provide temporary space for senior-center programming while construction work is underway at the senior center.
Parks Director Alina Hibbs explained the city earlier renewed a weekday-use lease with the VFW and subsequently advanced plans for structural upgrades at the Enumclaw Senior Center that will require temporary relocation. “That amendment will give us 4 months of temporary exclusive occupancy … With that, we'll get exclusive access June 1 through September 30,” Hibbs said, adding the city will compensate the VFW a total of $6,800 to be absorbed into the project budget and will make small ADA modifications to the hall within that budget.
Committee recommended approval, a motion was made and seconded, and the council passed resolution 18-78. Parks staff said no additional funds are required from the city beyond the project budget.
