Commissioner Tucci, who introduced the ordinance, said the work will “address special needs children who have physical challenges, but also children who have sensory challenges.” He described the project as “a $540,000 project, with a match of ... $137,000,” and said the finished playground will be accessible to children across the township.
The board closed the public hearing with no members of the public speaking and then voted to adopt the ordinance. Deputy Mayor Evans and the two commissioners present recorded aye votes; Mayor Kelly participated remotely and was recorded as voting aye after signaling his assent.
The ordinance covers renovation of an existing playground area as part of broader field and turf improvements in the park. Project funding is a grant match; the ordinance establishes the township’s share and the legal authorization to accept and expend the grant funds.
The adoption completes second reading and authorizes staff to proceed with procurement and project implementation. The township did not specify a construction schedule at the meeting; staff follow-up was indicated as the next procedural step.
