Commissioners ratify security-center purchases, approve elevator repairs; sheriff outlines move plan

Warrick County commissioners on May 26 ratified a series of purchases tied to the county's new security center and approved maintenance and repair work at county facilities.
Clerk presented disbursement #42 for the security center totaling $151,274.43 with line items to RQAW, WSI Technologies, Davies County Metal Sales and several other vendors for technology, equipment and furnishings. Commissioners approved the disbursement by voice vote.
Purchasing presented add-on purchases for the security center: garment bags ($6,225) and inmate clothing ($8,252.52) to outfit the new facility, a fork truck ($26,950), and other items exceeding $5,000, which commissioners approved.
On facilities maintenance, purchasing presented two proposals to repair elevator leaks and replace contaminated hydraulic oil (Murphy Engineering, $12,280) and to install a new commercial-grade sump pump at the old courthouse (Midwest Contracting, $862). The board approved both projects and included up to $500 additional authority to select a stainless-steel pump body if available.
Sheriff Mike Wilder updated the board on the sheriff's office and security center: administrative staff have already moved in while construction is finished; phone and internet issues remain under resolution; the plan is to finish construction in two to three weeks and to move inmates in the coming month. Wilder suggested a tentative ribbon-cutting on June 23 and invited commissioners for a facility tour before inmates are transferred.
Next steps: vendors will be paid under the approved disbursement; facilities work will proceed with QMCAP funding; the sheriff's office will coordinate a tour and announce the ribbon-cutting timing.
