She said the property lies at the northwest corner of Lucas and Clinton and the city’s future land‑use map designates the area as mixed‑use, which allows low‑intensity commercial, office and retail uses alongside residential.
Thirteen surrounding property-owner notices were mailed; one approval was returned and no protests were filed. The applicant (identified in the meeting as Mr. Mayo) said he owns nearby properties and needs additional space for his operations.
A public comment from a neighbor, Deborah Deas, indicated support. The caption of the ordinance was read for first reading and the matter will progress through the city’s ordinance process for future council action.
