The Marriott-Slaterville City Council on April 16 heard a presentation from staff and a representative of the Ogden Nature Center on a proposal for gated access off 1200 West to a treehouse parking area and tabled the ordinance for a public hearing at the next council meeting.
Bill Morris (city staff) provided background on the proposal. Kaitlen, a representative of the Ogden Nature Center, described the site plan, noting the seasonal nature of the site, that the gate would be kept locked, that the access would be one-way with traffic exiting via BDO, and that the access road should be 26 feet (correcting an earlier 20-foot plan). She also said dark-sky lighting would be used and that overflow parking would be available in a dirt field.
Council President Dennis Illum and Vice President Brad Slater said there was public interest in the project and supported holding a public hearing. Councilman Rob Smout moved to table the ordinance and schedule a public hearing at the next meeting; Mr. Slater seconded and the council voted unanimously to do so. The motion did not adopt the ordinance; it set the next step in the review process.
